Steve worked at the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM) at Durham University and Cambridge University Press & Assessment for over 20 years, where he oversaw development of digital assessment and reporting platforms for primary, secondary, and post-16 assessments across the portfolio. Overseeing development and operations of high-stakes assessments, including 11+ admissions tests and standardised assessments used in IB and GCSE pathways.

With a background in mathematics and physics, and a PhD in astrophysics, he brings deep technical expertise to the development and delivery of robust, scalable assessment solutions. He began his career in space and defence research before moving into education, where he applied his technical skills to all aspects of digital and paper testing.

Over the years, his work has spanned test platform architecture, assessment development support, applied psychometrics - ensuring the of integrity and comparability of assessments used across schools and systems worldwide.
